Guadalajara guide: Eat at Bruna for upscale dining

With a simply stunning setting in Guadalajara's hip neighborhood of Americana, Bruna is an upscale, modern Mexican restaurant in an architectural wonderland, full of lush gardens and design vision.

I'm generally not a cocktail guy, but this menu can make any skeptic dive in.

I love bougainvillea — the flower reminds me of Mexico — and Bruna has crafted a Bougainvillea Cocktail, so it was a natural choice. The presentation alone is worth the order!

The Mezcal Mule is a must-order along with the Mazatmitla, which is made with tequila but tastes like a Manhattan and features wood from the trees in Mazatmilta, a Pueblo Mágico about 1.5 hours outside of Guadalajara.

The food is incredible. The presentation equally matches the taste. I had the Piggy Baby Rose. The pork was braised for 21 days and served on the house pink mole and served with black rice and fresh tortillas.

This is one of Guadalajara's best. Make a reservation on Opentable and go!
